Verification of your educational background

Depending on the admission criteria and also your educational background, you might be required to submit certificate copies.

Universities of applied sciences (UAS)

If you gain admission to a university of applied sciences, in addition to accepting the study place, you must submit copies of the qualification certificates, diplomas and reference letters from workplaces cited in the joint application procedure to the admission services of the university of applied sciences by the given deadline.

The higher education institution will verify your eligibility by comparing the copies to the information provided by you on the application form.

The admission is conditional until the university of applied sciences has verified the diplomas, certificates and reference letters. The university of applied sciences may withdraw the admission if you fail to submit the certificates by the deadline stated by the university of applied sciences or if you have given false information.

Universities

If you gain admission to a university and have completed a Finnish matriculation examination in 1990 or later, you are generally not required to submit a certificate of this to the university. The universities receive the information directly from the register of the Matriculation Examination Board.

If you cited another qualification in your application, in addition to accepting the study place you may be required to submit an officially certified copy of the qualification certificate proving your eligibility to the university. In this case, the admission is conditional until the university has verified the certificates.

The university will inform you if your admission is provisional and will provide instructions on how to submit the certificates.

The university may withdraw the admission if you fail to submit the certificates requested by the deadline stated by the university or if you have provided false information. A conditional admission may also be withdrawn in the event that it was based on grades and the grades have dropped.
