What do the studies comprise?

Different university of applied sciences (UAS) focus the contents of education differently. Common features of all programmes include competences relating to natural resources and their sustainable development and use, as well as business, working community and internationalisation competences. Studies consist of core and professional studies, elective studies, work placement periods and a Bachelor’s thesis. Studies involve intense co-operation with representatives of the world of work. Students create networks with the world of work already during their studies through various projects, during work placement periods and in connection with preparing their Bachelor’s theses.

It is possible to complete part of the degree by studying at partner higher education institutions abroad. Work placement periods consolidate practical professional skills, strengthen business competence and focus development of expertise individually. In the Bachelor’s thesis process, students consolidate their own specialisation and apply the knowledge and skills that they have learnt. The programmes available in Natural Resources and the Environment offer specialisation in horse management, sustainable development, agricultural and rural industries, agriculture, landscape design, forestry and horticulture. As educational responsibilities, contents of studies and specialisations vary, it is advisable to check the provision of different UAS carefully during the application phase.
