Universities of applied sciences and universities charge a tuition fee from Bachelor’s or Master’s level students studying in languages other than Finnish or Swedish.

University of applied sciences (UAS) Master’s degree

UASes offer a number of UAS Master’s degrees – these are mainly targeted for those already in the working life. The UAS Master’s degree is equivalent to a university Master’s degree in the labour market.

Who can apply?

Qualified to apply for the Master’s Degree is a person who

  • already has a Bachelor’s Degree or other higher education degree and
  • has a minimum of three years of work experience

In hands and crafts, communications and fine arts, theatre, dance and music the work experience can be replaced with artistic activities or achievements. Check specific admission criteria from the study programme descriptions and read more about admission criteria.

The overall structure of degree programmes

UAS Master’s degrees consist of 60 or 90 ECTS credits and take about 1,5 – 2 years to accomplish. The studies comprise of advanced professional studies, elective studies and a final thesis (Master’s thesis).

The UAS plan the content of the degree programmes themselves. Thus, programmes with the same name may consist of different study modules and units at different UAS.
