Admission results for the joint Application 2020 for higher education (study programmes offered in English) are ready.

If you have been admitted to a study programme, you will receive a notification of this to your email.

Please note that you can confirm only one study place per academic term. Confirm the study place by 17 July by 3 pm (UTC/GMT +3).

 

Higher education institutes organize supplementary applications during July and August. In these applications, you can apply to degree programmes where the applicant quota was not filled.

Education in universities

The areas of interest in Educational Sciences cover growth, development and learning throughout the human life cycle. Education and research in the field deal with various phenomena of education ranging from early childhood education and care through to adult education.

In addition to education and training, demand for expertise in educational sciences is also increasing in trade and industry, as well as in health care and social services. Finland’s success in international comparisons of education has increased interest in international issues in education, education policy and multiculturalism.

The world of work expects people to be ready for change in keeping with the principle of lifelong learning and to update their own knowledge and skills. These expectations increase the necessity of education in Educational Sciences. The employment outlook in the field is good. Those graduating from the field work in teaching, planning, administrative, research and staff development assignments.

Among others, graduates work in the following areas:

  • day care centres, schools and other educational institutions
  • public administration
  • research institutes
  • organisations
  • businesses.

You can study Educational Sciences at several universities, which have different types of profiles. Most universities also offer the opportunity to complete pedagogical studies for teachers that produce subject teaching qualifications either as part of a degree or as a separate study module. Other specialisation areas in Educational Sciences include special education, subject teacher training in home economics, crafts and music, as well as guidance counselling and media education.
