The field of Pharmacy focuses on research into development, manufacturing, use and effects of pharmaceuticals. Pharmacy combines applied natural sciences both with health sciences and social sciences.
The field of education prepares specialists in pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical care. Pharmaceutical dispensers, who have completed the Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree, mostly work at pharmacies, but jobs are also available within the pharmaceuticals industry, hospital dispensaries and the pharmaceuticals wholesale business. Their tasks vary from drug development to customer service and management.
The majority of pharmacists, who have completed the Master of Science in Pharmacy degree, also work at pharmacies, where their tasks include business management, work supervision, training and customer service. A pharmacist working at a hospital dispensary is responsible for the hospital’s pharmacological services. A pharmacist may also apply for a pharmacy licence after working at a pharmacy or in pharmacological services.
